Ozone boosts gum surgery results in periodontitis trial

NCT ID NCT07551297

First seen Apr 25, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study looked at whether adding ozone therapy to standard gum surgery (open flap debridement) improves healing in people with advanced gum disease (stage III periodontitis). Twenty-four adults each had one side of their mouth treated with surgery plus ozone and the other side with surgery alone. Researchers measured gum pocket depth and attachment levels at 6 and 12 months to see if ozone made a difference.
