Can a 'Trust Hormone' help veterans stick with and benefit from PTSD treatment?

NCT ID NCT04228289

Summary

This study tested whether adding the hormone oxytocin to a standard PTSD therapy could make the treatment more effective and help Veterans complete it. 180 Veterans with PTSD received either oxytocin or a placebo along with Prolonged Exposure therapy. The goal was to see if oxytocin reduced PTSD symptoms faster, improved final outcomes, and helped more people stay in therapy instead of dropping out early.
