Scientists dive deep to uncover why oxygen turns toxic

NCT ID NCT05761756

Summary

This study aims to understand why and how oxygen becomes toxic to the human body, specifically in scuba divers. Researchers will test how factors like respiratory muscle training, sleep deprivation, common medications, and carbon dioxide exposure affect this risk. Healthy, non-smoking adults aged 18-45 will exercise on stationary bikes both on land and underwater while researchers measure their body's responses.
