Experimental oxygen treatment tested for brain trauma

NCT ID NCT00174980

Summary

This study tested whether an experimental treatment called Oxycyte could safely deliver more oxygen to the brain after a severe head injury. Researchers gave a single infusion of Oxycyte to 9 patients with severe brain trauma who were on ventilators, then monitored their brain oxygen levels for at least 48 hours. The goal was to see if increasing oxygen to the injured brain could help improve recovery.
