Blood filter showdown: could a new device save more pneumonia patients with kidney failure?

NCT ID NCT06440759

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special blood filter called oXiris works better than the standard M100 filter for people with pneumonia who also develop acute kidney injury. About 60 adults will be randomly assigned to one filter during continuous blood cleaning (CRRT). Researchers will measure inflammation levels, kidney function, bleeding risk, and how many patients survive at 28 days. The goal is to find a safer, more effective way to manage these critically ill patients.
