Scientists search for hidden connection between brittle bones and memory loss
NCT ID NCT03175874
Summary
This study aimed to understand if a common biological process called autophagy connects osteoporosis (bone weakening) and Alzheimer's disease. Researchers compared bone samples from 82 postmenopausal women undergoing hip replacement surgery—some with osteoporosis, some with Alzheimer's, some with both, and some with neither. The goal was to gather basic knowledge about how these age-related conditions might be linked, which could inform future treatments.
