Dental surgery sleep apnea screening could save lives

NCT ID NCT06430957

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looks at whether checking for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) before dental surgery under anesthesia can help predict and prevent breathing complications after the procedure. About 240 adults without a prior OSA diagnosis will be screened using standard questionnaires. Those found at risk will be referred for further testing, and their recovery will be tracked to see if screening improves safety.
