Engineered donor cells aim to make stem cell transplants safer for blood cancer patients

NCT ID NCT03802695

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This early-phase study tests a new type of donor cell graft called Orca-Q in 300 people with blood cancers like leukemia or myelodysplastic syndromes who need a stem cell transplant. The graft is engineered from a donor's blood cells to try to reduce complications like graft-versus-host disease and improve recovery of the patient's blood cell counts. The main goals are to check safety and see how well the new graft helps the body accept the transplant.
