New gel aims to soothe agonizing mouth sores in kids on chemo

NCT ID NCT02173756

Summary

This study tested a morphine gel applied directly to painful mouth sores caused by chemotherapy in children and young adults. The goal was to see if putting the pain medicine right on the sore spots worked better for pain relief than standard treatments. Researchers compared the gel to a placebo gel in participants who were already taking pain medication by mouth or IV.
