First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study compares an oral carbohydrate solution (a sugary drink) with a clear liquid diet as the first food given to adults hospitalized with mild to moderate acute pancreatitis. The goal is to see which approach causes fewer feeding problems like pain or vomiting, and whether it shortens hospital stays. About 276 participants in Pakistan will be randomly assigned to one of the two diets and monitored for 24 hours after their first meal.
