First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tested whether special light-based cameras and sensors can detect and diagnose mouth diseases, including cancer, without needing a biopsy. Over 1,000 adults with various oral conditions and healthy volunteers had their mouths imaged with harmless light. The goal was to see if these optical tools could spot problems as accurately as standard methods like tissue sampling.
