Brain scans may forecast vision recovery in nerve inflammation
NCT ID NCT04448938
First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study is testing whether a special type of MRI, called resting-state fMRI, can help predict how well people with optic neuritis (inflammation of the eye nerve) will recover their vision. About 200 adults with suspected optic neuritis will get an extra MRI scan and eye exams, then be followed for 6 months. The goal is to see if brain activity patterns can forecast recovery, which could improve treatment planning.
