New hope for easing opioid withdrawal: Two-Drug combo shows promise

NCT ID NCT05995535

Summary

This study is testing whether combining two medications (lofexidine and pregabalin) works better than lofexidine alone at reducing withdrawal symptoms when people with opioid addiction stop using opioids. The goal is to help 150 adults with opioid use disorder manage withdrawal symptoms more comfortably so they can transition to a monthly injection treatment (extended-release naltrexone) that helps prevent relapse. Participants will receive either the two-drug combination or lofexidine with a placebo pill for 8 days.
