Summary

This study follows about 163 adults who had knee or hip replacement surgery and were sent home with opioid pain pills. Researchers teach patients how to safely store and destroy unused pills, then check in 6-8 weeks later to see what they did with them. The goal is to learn how well patients follow disposal instructions and reduce the risk of leftover pills being misused.
