New drug trial targets debilitating shingles pain

NCT ID NCT06708416

First seen Mar 07, 2026 · Last updated Apr 20, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study is testing an investigational drug called ONO-1110 to see if it can safely reduce persistent nerve pain that lingers after a shingles rash has healed, a condition called postherpetic neuralgia. It will involve about 140 Japanese adults who have had this pain for at least three months. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the study drug or a placebo (an inactive substance) for 8 weeks, and neither they nor their doctors will know which one they are getting, to fairly measure the drug's effects on pain levels.
