Summary

Researchers are testing an internet-delivered form of acceptance and commitment therapy for people aged 15 to 24 who have PTSD and chronic pain. Participants work through online modules on trauma education, facing avoided memories and situations, mindfulness, and acceptance, with three scheduled phone calls and message access to a psychologist. The pilot study measures changes in PTSD symptoms, psychological inflexibility, anxiety, depression, and pain intensity.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
internet-delivered acceptance and commitment therapy (iACT)
What this could lead to
If it helps, this could offer young people with PTSD and chronic pain a therapy they can do from home, with regular contact from a psychologist.
What could go wrong
This is a small pilot with no control group, so any changes may reflect time or attention rather than the therapy itself. The results may not hold in a larger, randomized trial.
