Summary

Researchers test a brief online program that combines acceptance and commitment therapy with physical literacy education for socioeconomically disadvantaged women living with overweight. The program includes six weekly group sessions, a practice week, and a booster session, all delivered live online. The trial compares the program with a waitlist control group to see how it affects physical literacy, wellbeing, and physical activity.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
a brief online acceptance and commitment therapy-based physical literacy program
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a low-cost, remotely delivered way to help women in disadvantaged circumstances become more active and improve their wellbeing.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with 60 participants, so any benefits may not hold up in larger studies or other groups. Participants may find the online sessions or home exercises hard to fit into daily life.
