Helicopter medics bring operating room to cardiac arrest victims
NCT ID NCT04620070
Summary
This study tested if starting a portable heart-lung machine (ECPR) right at the scene of a cardiac arrest, instead of waiting to get to the hospital, could save more lives. It involved 221 adults under 50 who did not respond to standard CPR for 20-45 minutes. The goal was to see if this faster treatment led to more people surviving and leaving the hospital with less brain damage.
