First seen Apr 04, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tested a fish oil emulsion called Omegaven in 36 children with liver disease caused by long-term intravenous (IV) nutrition. The goal was to see if it could improve cholestasis, a condition where bile flow is reduced, by lowering bilirubin levels. Participants were children who depended on IV nutrition and had high bilirubin despite standard treatments.
