First seen Oct 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This study tests whether a pill made from dead bacteria (OM 85) can boost the immune system and prevent respiratory infections in older adults living in nursing homes. About 360 people aged 75 and older who have had at least two respiratory infections in the past year will take either the active pill or a placebo. The goal is to see if the treatment reduces new cases of lower respiratory tract infections.
