New eye scanner could replace dye tests for retinal disease
NCT ID NCT03279939
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tested a new type of eye scan called OCT angiography to see how well it shows blood vessels in the back of the eye. Researchers compared it to standard dye-based tests in 88 people with either normal eyes or retinal blood vessel problems. The goal was to see if the new scan gives clear and useful images without needing dye injections.
