New eye drug tested for nerve inflammation safety
NCT ID NCT04762017
Summary
This study tested the safety of an experimental drug called OCS-05 in people with a sudden episode of optic neuritis, which is inflammation of the eye's nerve. Thirty-six participants received either OCS-05 or a placebo (inactive substance) for five days, in addition to the standard steroid treatment. Researchers monitored participants for side effects and also checked if the drug helped preserve vision or nerve health over six months.
