Jaw pain relief: simple exercises may double the benefit of mouthguard therapy

NCT ID NCT07507734

First seen Apr 05, 2026 · Last updated Jun 17, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study looks at whether adding a structured exercise program to standard mouthguard (occlusal splint) therapy can better reduce jaw pain and improve function in people with temporomandibular disorders (TMD). About 38 adults with TMD will either receive the mouthguard alone or the mouthguard plus exercises. Researchers will measure pain, jaw movement, and muscle stiffness over 4 weeks to see which approach works best.
