Scientists probe why some people can eat more without gaining weight
NCT ID NCT00523627
Summary
This study aimed to understand why some people are more resistant to weight gain than others when they overeat. Researchers measured how the body's metabolism (energy use) changed in 203 healthy adults when they fasted or ate double their normal calories on different diets (high-protein, high-fat, etc.). The goal was to learn if these short-term metabolic changes could predict long-term weight changes and identify protective mechanisms.
