Summary

This study tested whether oat flakes containing β-glucan, a type of fiber, could help adolescents aged 12–18 with type 1 diabetes improve their blood sugar control, pancreatic function, and cholesterol levels. Sixty participants were randomly assigned to eat the oat flakes or a control, then switched groups. The goal was to see if this simple dietary change could make diabetes management easier.
