Nurses take the lead: study tests if they can safely insert heart catheters
NCT ID NCT07176884
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 35 times
Summary
This study tests whether specially trained nurses can safely insert a thin tube into the wrist artery for a common heart test (coronary angiography), compared to cardiologists. About 1,600 adults scheduled for this test will be randomly assigned to have the tube placed by a nurse or a cardiologist. The main goal is to see if the nurse can succeed on the first try just as well, with the same low risk of complications.
