Simple numbing shot could slash need for opioids after common surgery

NCT ID NCT07213635

Summary

This study is testing if a numbing injection given around the cervix during a vaginal hysterectomy for pelvic prolapse helps patients feel less pain and need fewer strong opioid painkillers after surgery. Researchers will compare 56 patients who receive the numbing medicine to those who receive a placebo saltwater injection. The main goal is to see if this simple step during surgery can lead to better recovery with less reliance on opioids.
