New implant could slash heart failure hospitalizations

Summary

This study tests a new system that monitors a large vein in the body to help doctors manage heart failure. The goal is to reduce hospital stays and deaths. About 800 adults with moderate to severe heart failure will either get the device plus standard care, or standard care alone. The device is implanted and sends daily readings to guide treatment.
