Breathing mask alternative could prevent ventilator need after surgery
NCT ID NCT01971892
Summary
This study tested whether a noninvasive breathing mask could help patients who develop serious breathing problems after abdominal surgery. Researchers compared this mask approach to standard oxygen therapy in 300 patients across multiple hospitals. The goal was to see if the mask treatment could prevent the need for more invasive ventilator tubes and improve recovery.
