Headband device could replace Needle-Based heart shunt test

NCT ID NCT07414446

First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study tests a new ultrasound device worn on the head (SONAS) to detect abnormal blood flow between the right and left sides of the heart or lungs (right-to-left shunts) in adults with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT). About 40 participants will wear the device during their standard bubble echocardiogram to see if SONAS can accurately find shunts and tell whether they are in the heart or lungs. The goal is to offer a simpler, non-invasive alternative to current testing.
