New scan could replace painful biopsies for kidney transplant patients

This study tested whether two advanced ultrasound techniques could detect early signs of kidney transplant damage without needing invasive biopsies. Researchers followed 141 kidney transplant recipients, performing special scans that measure tissue stiffness and blood flow at 15 days, 3 months, and 12 months after transplant. The goal was to see if these scans could identify problems early, potentially reducing the need for painful biopsy procedures during routine monitoring.
