No more needles? stool test could replace scopes for Kids' stomach bug
NCT ID NCT07083804
First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 19 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a simple stool test can accurately detect Helicobacter pylori infection in children, instead of the usual method of taking stomach biopsies during an endoscopy. About 188 children aged 16 or younger who need a gastroscopy will provide a stool sample for PCR testing. The goal is to see if the stool test is as reliable as the biopsy, which could make diagnosis much easier and less invasive for kids.
