New study explores Dye-Free CT scans for faster, safer clot detection

NCT ID NCT07527117

First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a chest CT scan without contrast dye can accurately detect pulmonary emboli (blood clots in the lungs). About 750 adults with suspected clots will undergo two extra low-dose CT scans and a simple breathing test. If successful, this approach could offer a safer alternative for patients who cannot receive standard dye injections.
