Could a Dye-Free CT scan spot dangerous lung clots?

NCT ID NCT07527117

First seen May 10, 2026 · Last updated May 10, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether a special CT scan done without contrast dye can accurately find blood clots in the lungs (pulmonary embolism). About 750 adults who are already scheduled for a standard CT with dye will also get two very low-radiation CT scans without dye. Researchers will compare the results to see if the dye-free method works well enough to replace the standard test, which could reduce risks from contrast dye.
