Summary
This study tested whether a special conversation guide, built into electronic health records, could help over 81,000 adults use non-drug methods (like ice, heat, or relaxation) to control pain after surgery. The goal was to see if this approach improved pain, physical function, and anxiety, and reduced opioid use three months later. The study did not test any new medications or procedures.
