Can a new injection help shed excess weight?
NCT ID NCT07767175
First seen Aug 17, 2026 · Last updated Sep 04, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This early-stage trial is investigating whether an experimental drug called NNC0721-8060 is safe and how it works in adults with overweight or obesity. Participants will receive either the new drug, a placebo, or an existing weight-management medication (semaglutide) via injection. The study will monitor side effects and measure changes in body weight to see if the drug shows promise for weight management.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only, not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- NNC0721-8060, an experimental drug given as an injection, compared with semaglutide and placebo
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could lead to a new treatment option for weight management in people with overweight or obesity.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-phase trial focused on safety and how the drug works, so it is not yet known if it will be effective or safe for long-term use. Side effects are possible.
