First seen Mar 25, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 11 times
Summary
This study looked at how a person's genetic makeup might influence their body's ability to fight severe bloodstream infections caused by E. coli and S. aureus bacteria. Researchers analyzed DNA from blood cells of 60 hospitalized patients to find mutations linked to worse outcomes, like needing intensive care. The goal was to better understand why some people get much sicker than others from the same bacteria.
