Liver cancer combo trial halted early: what happened?

NCT ID NCT05199285

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tested whether combining two immunotherapy drugs, nivolumab and ipilimumab, could shrink tumors in people with advanced liver cancer that had already spread or couldn't be removed by surgery. All 15 participants had previously tried another immunotherapy combination (atezolizumab + bevacizumab) without success. The trial was terminated early, so results are limited, but the goal was to see if this new combo could offer another treatment option for hard-to-treat liver cancer.
