Bladder zapping plus antibiotics may cut recurrent UTIs

NCT ID NCT06907199

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study looks at two ways to manage recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) in women. One group takes a daily antibiotic (nitrofurantoin) alone, while the other group has a minor procedure called bladder fulguration (which burns tiny spots in the bladder) plus the same daily antibiotic. The goal is to see which approach better prevents future UTIs over two years. About 104 women aged 18 to 85 with frequent UTIs will take part.
