Mouthwash may hold key to blood pressure control

NCT ID NCT07602764

First seen May 29, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 3 times

Summary

This study looks at whether rinsing with a special mouthwash containing nitrate can lower blood pressure in healthy adults. Nitrate from leafy greens is turned into nitric oxide by mouth bacteria, which helps blood vessels relax. Researchers will measure blood pressure and nitrate levels in blood and saliva over 24 hours. The study involves 20 healthy adults with normal blood pressure.
