New device could help surgeons see blood flow in real time during heart surgery

Summary

This study will test a handheld device called Intra.Ox that uses light to measure oxygen levels in the heart and other organs during complex heart surgery in children. The goal is to see if it can give surgeons quick, useful information about blood flow to help make better decisions during the operation. About 50 children over 1 year old having heart surgery at Boston Children's Hospital will take part.
