First seen May 08, 2026 · Last updated Jun 09, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study tests whether adding low, horizontal and vertical lights around bathroom and entry doorframes can help prevent nighttime falls in assisted living residents with Alzheimer's or related dementias. 335 participants will be followed for one year, comparing fall rates when the lights are on versus off. The goal is to see if these simple visual cues improve safety and reduce injuries.
