First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This study looked at 120 full-term newborns to see if holding them in different positions (on their back, side, or tummy) during a heel prick blood test affects their pain and comfort. Researchers measured pain using special scales and checked heart rate and oxygen levels. The goal was to find a simple way to make this common procedure less stressful for babies.
