Scientists track dangerous bacteria in Newborns' guts
NCT ID NCT01719510
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Jun 18, 2026 · Updated 38 times
Summary
This study followed 949 newborns and their mothers to understand how a specific, more dangerous type of Group B Strep (ST17) bacteria settles in babies' digestive tracts. Researchers compared it to other Group B Strep strains to see which ones persist longer. The goal was to learn more about how these bacteria spread and potentially cause infections, not to test a treatment.
