Implanted port could end painful spinal taps for SMA patients

Summary
This study is testing a small, surgically implanted port and catheter system designed to deliver the SMA medication nusinersen without needing repeated spinal taps. The device is for children and adults with spinal muscular atrophy who have difficulty with standard lumbar puncture procedures. Researchers will follow 90 participants for 12 months to see if the system safely and effectively delivers the medication.
