New scan could spot dangerous transplant complication early
NCT ID NCT03367962
Summary
This study tested a new type of PET scan to see if it could find and predict Graft vs Host Disease (GVHD), a serious complication after a stem cell or bone marrow transplant. The scan uses a special tracer to highlight areas where certain immune cells are active, which is a sign of GVHD. Researchers compared scan results to biopsy findings and followed high-risk patients to see if the scan could predict who would develop the disease.
