New scan could spare rectal cancer patients unnecessary surgery

NCT ID NCT04339374

Summary

This study is testing a new type of imaging device to help doctors better see if rectal cancer has been eliminated by initial treatment. The goal is to more accurately identify patients who do not need surgery, potentially avoiding an invasive operation. The device combines ultrasound with a special light-based imaging technique and will be tested in about 90 patients who have already undergone cancer treatment.
