New PET scan could reveal hidden prostate cancer

NCT ID NCT05245006

First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This early-phase study tests a new PET imaging agent (89Zr-DFO-YS5) that targets a protein called CD46, found on many aggressive prostate cancer cells. About 30 men with advanced, treatment-resistant prostate cancer will receive the agent and then have PET scans to see if it can accurately detect tumors. The goal is to improve imaging and help develop better treatments for the most dangerous forms of prostate cancer.
