High-Tech camera aims to prevent leaks in colon surgery

Summary
This study is testing a new imaging device called ActivSight that helps surgeons see blood flow in real-time during colon cancer surgery. The goal is to see if this tool is as good as or better than the current standard dye method at identifying healthy tissue for reconnection, which could help prevent leaks and other complications. About 150 people scheduled for a specific type of colon surgery will have their procedure monitored with both the new and old imaging methods.
