New nerve block technique aims to stop tourniquet pain during surgery

NCT ID NCT07548567

First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests a new ultrasound-guided injection near the femoral artery to prevent pain and high blood pressure caused by tourniquets during below-the-knee fracture surgery. About 84 adults having leg surgery will be randomly assigned to receive the new injection, a standard injection, or a placebo. The goal is to see if the new approach keeps blood pressure more stable and reduces the need for extra pain medicine.
